I work at the craft center at my university.

best job ever for minimum wage. I craft for 5 hours and causally ensure that no one’s projects explode.

even better is when you get kids that come in regularly to work on assignments for classes, work on gifts/ hobbies or to procrastinate (this is how i started working here; i was one of the regulars…go figure)

one of my freshman regulars came in today and asked how the hell he could make a card, because the only paper he was experienced working with was computer paper to make paper airplanes, and he needs advice. Precious.

so we decided on the card color and he picked out the decorative paper to put on the outside of the card (so the original color would be the border. eggshell, not white, we decided)

He wanted the card to be perfect. i mean scissors just wouldn’t cut it; he got out the exacto knife and a ruler, and measure the things three times to get the perfect amount of eggshell showing.

i asked who the card was for, and it’s for “you know that girl that is always in here with me”. apparently she went home for break early because she’s sick and he’s getting a care package together for her, and a homemade card means so much more than a store-bought one.
